FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mountain Magic Catering wins the 'Presentation Award' at the Autumn Food and Wine JubileeMountain Magic Catering presented their food and wine skills for judging at the 12th annual Food and Wine Jubilee at Squaw Creek Resort.Fall '97 -- Chef Peter Bowers, ... and Sous Chef Aaron McIntosh, chose a 1930's Swiss Alpine theme to set off their passion for the mountain lifestyle and cuisine. They won 1st place for lovely decor, beating over 37 of Tahoe's best restaurateurs and caterers.
They set up their booth with old paintings, skis, snowshoes and a slice of a 300 year old tree that they had found lying in the woods. Peter spent many hours sanding and lacquering the slice so it would be a perfect platform for the brass & metal fondue pot. He cut a large pine pole in half and adding the two, he made a good post to set a somewhat weathered mailbox that had been painted with an alpine scene complete with cows! The fondue was made of four cheeses. The judge's batch lost some of it's essence due to the disorganization of the timeline. The fondue was still delicious enough 2¼ hours later to pull third prize for Food and Wine Pairing and to be the only hot food to place. They also won best white wine with Byron Winery, a wine ... called upon to enter the competition. Mountain Magic Catering won the best of show for presentation. Last modified: February 23, 2006 |
